"We will not give up, we will leave no room for drug traffickers and users": the new prefect chooses La Frayère in Cannes for his first visit

The Frayère district of Cannes will remain the first visit of Laurent Hottiaux , recently appointed Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes , replacing Hugues Moutoux. This Tuesday, he made his first field visit with David Lisnard, the Mayor of Cannes.
A highly symbolic visit, given that La Frayère is regularly the scene of urban violence linked to drug trafficking - as evidenced by the incidents that occurred several times last month - and was recently at the heart of neighborhood meetings.
The new prefect thus affirmed his desire to "fight against drug trafficking" and, to this end, declared that he wanted to "meet and exchange with the security forces mobilized daily on the ground against delinquency and to guarantee the safety of all."
"We will not give up""Here, there has been a very strong commitment from state services with the municipality and the police services for many months," emphasized Laurent Hottiaux. "In this area alone, there have been around a hundred arrests , and we have put in place a whole system with local police forces, departmental reinforcements, and mobile forces present to carry out resolute and determined action."
A determination to strengthen security in the neighborhood. "We will not give up, we will leave no room for traffickers and users, we will return whenever necessary ," the prefect continued. "The system may evolve, but we will obviously maintain the attention and all the severity that we want to apply."
Mayor David Lisnard, for his part, welcomed the prefect's presence and shared his expectations. "In a city that needs to repair its social fabric even more than anywhere else, we need sovereign action. What we expect is a partnership with the state. The state, which, unlike me, has judicial authority."
